Dr Noel Gately is the Centre Manager of the APT Technology Gateway hosted at the Materials Research Institute at Athlone Institute of Technology. As Centre Manager he is responsible for delivering and implementing the centre business plan and takes a leadership role in fostering polymer materials and manufacturing research at a national and international level, in conjunction with industrial and academic partners, World Class Researchers and funding agencies. Dr. Gately holds a first class honours degree in Toxicology and completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Gately worked in the medical device industry in Research and Development with Creagh Medical Ltd. / Surmodics Ireland. Noel has also worked in various other industries including Polymer Industry with Athlone Extrusions (7.5 yrs), Engineering industry Powerscreen Ltd.(3yrs) and Electrical industry Parkmore Switchgear (4yrs). He is a member of Polymer Technology Ireland and Irish Society of Toxicology. His research interests include Natural Polymer Materials, Biomaterials, Medical Devices, Hot Melt Extrusion.
